Disco Bus

2013 brought the signature nail (this just means one nail is painted a different colour to the rest) and I have a feeling it’s here to stay. Not going to lie, it is a favourite of mine as it is so simple and easy to do yet add something a little different to your regular nail varnish design. The easiest way to do it if you don’t fancy having different coloured nails is just to add a glitter top coat to one of the nails which I have done here, it doesn’t look it as this is a quite heavy top coat but believe me it is!
For the base coat I used Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish in 030 Double Decker Bus which I got for my birthday and for the glitter top coat I went to an oldie, Models Own in Southern Lights. Both of these are drug store brands so are easy to get your hands on and are relatively cheap. So if you haven’t already give this a go to give your nails a little more jazz than normal, the nail you choose to stand out if up to you and so are the colour combinations.

Music wise this week I have been OBSESSED (capitals are necessary) with alt-j An Awesome Wave, this album was hyped big time about this time last year and I have just got around listening to it and can’t stop. If you are fans of dance/electro/indie music then give it ago; my favourites are Breezeblocks, Taro and Fitzpleasure.
I am looking for new music so please recommend below!

Book Club: Divergent

Here’s to books, the cheapest vacation you can buy.
— Charlaine Harris

As part of my new year’s resolutions is to read more…well I’ll be honest here I just need to start reading! My sister is a little book worm and has always tried to push books on to me to read so I have decided to actually read them, how thoughtful of me. As motivation for me to keep this up I am going to (try my very best) do a book review once a month on this blog reviewing a book I have and one which I think you will like as well.
The first book I am going to review in 2014 is *drumroll* Divergent by Veronica Roth, OH MY GOD THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! I’ll admit it isn’t the highest quality book on the brain stimulating side but it got me finding it hard to put it down and if that isn’t a sign of a book then I don’t know what is. If you liked the Hunger Games books then you will love this, it is the first of a trilogy and is going to be made into a film this year which I cannot wait for! I’ll leave a link for the trailer down below if you want to take a wee look at that.
Not giving too much away, Divergent is about 16 year old Beatrice who lives in a futuristic world which is split into 4 factions. When you turn 16 you have to choose which faction you want to spend the rest of your life in, you can either stay in your faction or move to a different or join factionless which are a population who either make it into a faction or choose to live there. The story starts with Beatrice making her decision with the help of a simulation test which is supposed to give you a clear idea of which faction you live in but things don’t go too smoothing for dear Beatrice…
Over Christmas I read both Divergent and the second in the trilogy Insurgent which is equally as good so go read it! If you do read it or you have already read it please tell me below what you thought of it. We can make this a little community book club thing…good descriptions there Hann.
Divergent Trailer, out April 14th (UK)

Current Life Favourites

Why hi there guys, I made a wee video yesterday about what beauty products and other random things I have been loving recently. As I am a student now I have only included things which are inexpensive but are at the same time a quality product so if you are still in school, a student (like me!) or are just trying to save a few pennies then this will be helpful to you.

Maybelline Baby Lips, Original I know!

Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
Baby Lips Pink Punch
Hold on to your hats people, here comes a review on Maybelline’sBaby Lips. Original I know right? I know every beauty blogger and their dog has used these by now and had their say on them but I want to throw my thoughts into the ring.  I actually really like this product; you get what it says on the tin (or tube) and they are cheap as chips. Normally £2.99 each or buy on get one half price at Boots so £4.50 for two, so really you can’t go wrong! They work just like a lip balm/chap stick in that you just whack it on without a thought and it hydrates your lips but on top of that the Baby Lips I bought also give you a slight tint to your lips. They are great just to throw into your hand bag or school bag as something you can apply on the go, even without a mirror or using the selfie camera on your phone. I do recommend them for anyone who is a little afraid of applying lipstick in a rush (slowly raises hand) or someone on a budget who wants something cheap yet affective to wear every day…actually I recommend them to everyone (plus the packaging is caaaute as well).
What is your favourite lip product at the moment?

Night Out Smokey Eye Look

The lovely people who I work with organised a last night out for me before I leave for university (what cherubs!) and I decided this was a perfect time to try out some of the products I have reviewed recently. I have done this as I have been very lazy recently and reviewed products and not actually shown them in use; bad Hann, the look I went for is a Smokey eye look as I was going out at night to go ‘clubbing’ as the cool kids call it. I am just using this as a post as an example of what these products can do (will link the products that I am on about) as I am not a makeup artist and I feel I have no real authority to show you guys how to do your make up but if you would like, leave comments below and I will do a quick post how I did this look.
The products I used:
Rimmel London Traffic Stopping Shadow review post
Collection Work the Collection Eye Shadow Pencil in Glitz review post
Maybelline Falsies Mascara review post

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation review post
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer review post

Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencils

I have always had confused feeling towards cream eye shadow sticks as I have felt that they are really hard to use and just don’t give the same finish as normal powder eye shadows but now it has all changed! I have now discovered Collections (the makeup brand previously known as Collection 2000) Work the Colour Eye shadow Pencils which are the best things I have found this summer in the makeup department. They were on a special introductory price in Boots of only £2.50 so I originally bought one on a spontaneous shopping trip; I went for the pinky shimmery colour called Vintage Blush because it is so pretty and it will go with most looks as a base or will look nice when just going for a natural look. I really liked using it on holiday because it is waterproof was able to last all night even in Thailand’s humidity and also because they are a cream colour they are great to travel with as you don’t need to take any brushes and it is less likely they are going to break whilst in transit. I loved the pink one so much that when I got home I had to go get another and I went for the silver one called Gunmetal Glitz which I am yet to use yet but so excited to do so!
If anyone is looking for a new little eye shadow treat I recommend getting these pencils; they are great value for money and are overall a great product. Claps for Collection!

Rimmel London Traffic Stopping Shadow

I found this little beauty the other week when I was in Morrison’s (yes Morrison’s as in the supermarket, stay with me) reduced from £6.00 to £3.00, what a treat!  The only time I had really seen these eye shadows had been when they were being promoted before Made in Chelsea so I had no idea what to expect but recently my MAC black eye shadow has gone missing so I thought for £3.00 I would buy it at least I had another black again. I haven’t tried it out fully in a look yet but I have sampled it quite a bit and so far so good really. On the back of the pallet it says they can be used wet or dry but when I tried them out dry all that seemed to happen was they were diluted and spread a little further. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen when I used them wet but I was expecting something a little more exciting to happen I guess so yeah I was little let down by that. The colour trio is called 006 Sharp Turn and for ease I have just numbered each colour so you know what I am on about. I love number 1 and will definitely be using it as a highlighter in the corners of my eyes, it leaves a lovely pearly shimmery colour and leaves a strong colour if that makes sense. Number 2 when used looks more silvery then grey; its shimmery like number 1 but I am not sure how I am going to use it yet. Finally number 3, it is a nice colour and gives nice finish but I just can’t help but to compare it to my old MAC. Deep Sigh. Overall I do like the pallet and I will be using it but I wouldn’t pay £6.00 for it; eye shadow is one of those things where I think its worth paying a bit more to get high-end products.
