Sunny Day Necessities

It’s rare to get a sunny day in the UK so when we do I feel obligated to make the most of it, i.e. spending every moment in the park. I was however blessed with having very pale, easily burned skin which means I have to take extra precautions when enjoying the suns raise as should everyone. Sun burn is not fun or pretty. Here I am going to share my sunny day necessities which I use whenever the clouds break and Mr Sun shows his face.
Clinique Super City Block in SPF 40, £17.00
This is a new product for me which I invested in because I was sick of getting a Rudolph nose every time I step outside. It’s not a cheap product but I am very happy with it as it is easily applied and soaks in really quick fast. Also the women at the Clinique stand told me it can be used as a primer which is always a bonus! I went for SPF 40 as I need it but it also comes in SPF 25 if you do not burn as easily as you do but you can never be too prepared when it comes to skin care.
Nivea Sun Moisturising Sun Lotion in SPF 30, £5.00 (half price in Tesco’s)
Nothing special here, just your regular all over the body sun cream; this can be used on your face as well but I find they cause my skin to breakout so I just stick to the City Block. It does everything it says on the bottle, protects you from the sun and as its Nivea you know you are going to get a quality product.
Nivea Sun Protect Lip Care in SPF 30, £3.50
Again this is a must for me as I have sadly suffered from burned lips in the past and trust me, it ain’t fun.  You can probably get better SPF lip balms then this but for the price it’s great just to throw into your bag before going out and it’s very easily applied. Only thing is that it does leave a white colour to your lips and it does not last that long so constant application is needed but I still wouldn’t leave the house on a sunny day without it.
My last few necessities which I take with me for a fun day in the sun is some reading material (this month’s ELLE is a treat, amazing interview with Pharrell), sunnies and of course some of that delish H20! To make mine more exciting I just added a few frozen berries I had on hand which gives it a lovely fruity hint and just helps liven up some normal tap water.
I hope you are all enjoying the sun where you are and remember to be safe in the sun by using  SPF and keeping hydrated.
What are your sunny day musts?

My Travel Make Up Bag

One of my all-time pet hates has to be when you are at the airport and you are going through security and there’s that women who stops the entire line because she has decided to take the ENTIRE of her make up collection on the plane. The regulations of flying states you have to have all carry on liquids in a clear plastic bag and due to the fact the women has brought every piece of makeup she owns and has no clue about this rule (which they do advertise a lot throughout the airport) the entire queue is held up as she puts everything in numerous sandwich bags. The annoys me so much for so many reasons but the main one is why would you need that much stuff during a flight?! Seriously?! In this post I have shown you guys what I take in my carry on while flying; you are spending hours sitting in a small space so I am pretty sure I do not need seven eyeliners and all of my MAC lipsticks. Rant over…I promise. So here’s my carry on makeup bag and things I feel are needed on a long haul flight:

Bag - Make up Forever, free gift with purchase

Hand sanitizer (the plane toilets always seem to run out of soap) – Dettol

Hand Cream – L’Occitane, sample size as it’s a nice size to travel with

Face Moisturiser (to rehydrate your skin as you land) – Neal’s Yard in power berry

Lip Balm (chapped lips are the worse) – Nivea lip butter

Make Up (so I don’t scare the rest of the plane with my jet lagged face)

  • Mascara, Maybelline falsies
  • Concealer, Collection lasting perfection
  • Eyebrow Pencil, Rimmel eyebrow pencil
Perfume (again the small sample sizes are the best) – Burberry Body

Cleansing Wipes (I find these really helpful towards the end of the flight when you just feel all yuck) – Boots own brand in cucumber

Finally a small mirror is helpful for applying makeup and all that jazz.

I do also have another toiletries bag which goes in my suitcase to go into haul or whatever the other part of the plane is called but this is all I take on in my carry on as any more to me feels silly. Give your skin a break on the plane, it gets dehydrated enough.

What is in your travel bag? I have really enjoyed reading these posts recently and would love to read more so please leave me links to some!

Primarks Flower Power

Flower Headbands - Primark £2.50 each

One of the trends I have absolutely loved this summer has to be the floral crowns, I think they are so pretty and look fabulous with a cute little summer dress but since I will probably not wear it past autumn I wasn’t prepared to pay £20 for one. The caused inner turmoil as I really wanted one for my holidays! Sad Hann. However, then I saw that the beaut that is Sammi from BeautyCrush bought one from Primark…I LOVE PRIMARK! After hearing this I had to go check them out and I was so happy to see what they were like in person; at only £2.50 a headband I just had to buy two. They are obviously not as good quality as the more expensive crowns but for £2.50 I think they are brilliant! They have a stretchy head band round the back so they are easy to wear but when they are on they don’t stretch so that the flowers are really far apart and so that they lose the crown affect (also I have a massive head so this is a massive bonus). Each flower has a little glitter around the petals which adds a nice little sparkle; what’s better than an extra little sparkle? So if you are looking for a cheaper alternative for the flower crowns or just want a nice flower head band for the summer then get yourself down the Primark!

What do you think about the flower crowns?

Lazy Catch Up Day

Top - Topshop  gift
Dress - H&M £7.00 (sale)
Nails - Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Mango £3.99

Guess who has no work today? ME! I am so excited to spend the day catching up with friends who have been on holiday and catching up on blog posts, also as I am away all of August I have planned to set some posts on timer for you guys to be released over the month. Wow that made it sound like they are some sort of caged beast. For now I thought I would share what I am going to wear today, as I don’t plan to leave the house really I am not going to wear any make up to give my skin a well-deserved rest. Outfit wise, it’s still quite warm here so I have chosen to wear something quite lose fitting so I don’t become a sweaty mess; I am actually wearing a dress beneath but I put the top on top just to break up the pattern. On my nails I am wearing my newest colour which I love! I have heard so many good things about the Barry M Gellys but I had never bought one…so yesterday I bought 2 as Superdrug have their 3 for 2 offers on all nail varnishes. What a bargain eh?
How is the weather where you are? Anybody else sick of the heat yet?

PS please excuse the tan lines, I am pale and British so tanning isn’t a thing I do well.

Play Time

TBT, having cuddles with my bunny Milo
This floral playsuit has to be one of my favourite items of clothing, I have had it 2 years now and I still get wear out of it when the sun decides to shine. I purchased it from a small boutique near me in Tynemouth called Ruby & Frank and I think I only paid about £20 (I have the memory of a goldfish so I definitely cannot remember prices from 2 years ago). I love playsuits because they are easy to wear as it takes care of your top and bottom so you don’t have to stress about what else to wear! I normally pair mine up with flip flops, sandals or a pair of converse along with a trusty pair of sunglasses then I am good to go to play in the sun. The only thing I would say is be weary if you are planning to wear it too a festival; I wore mine to T in the Park and having to strip fully when going to the loo in a porta-loo was not the highlight of my weekend. Playsuits are not wee friendly. Wow that sounded weird.

What is your favourite thing to wear in the summer?
